We sell both multifuel and woodburning stoves but people often wonder what the difference between the two is. Put simply multifuel stoves are designed to burn wood, coal and smokeless fuel whereas woodburning stoves just burn wood. Multifuel stoves have a riddling grate which allows ash to fall into the ash pan, not all have them so for the ones that do not you can use a poker.
Coal will burn more efficiently when the ash is cleared so that is the reasoning behind the riddling grate, to allow ash to filter through. Woodburning stoves tend to have a static grate because they simply burn wood only instead of both wood and coal like multifuels stoves do. It is easy to tell the difference between the two because only a multifuel stove will have an ash pan.
A woodburning stove will only take air from above because if air got underneath then the wood would burn too quickly whereas the grate in the multifuel stove allows airflow underneath the coal or wood as well as above it, this allows the coal or wood to burn more efficiently.
Both multifuel and woodburning stoves come in an array of styles and are very popular in modern homes because of their environmental benefits.

we write in relation to the above fitting of a stove at our property on the 19th and 20th April and would like to state how pleased we were with the work carried out by the installer.
We look forward to receiving our certificate for the installation as soon as possible
Cheque enclosed for balance of stove purchase plus installation. I am very pleased with it - My husband reluctant at the idea is also thrilled.
